[Link] | Well, Chicago remains my favorite city ever - it combines everything one could want in a good city: great nightlife and daylife, beautiful scenery, history and intrigue, and convenient public transportation.
Friday, Sarah was late getting in, so we met Megan and Lauren for dinner downtown on Rush. We planned to go to Cafe Luciano's, but alas, after being rejected entry to Cactus (due to the minor hitcho of Lauren being 19) we learned that Luciano's is not only closed, but being demolished. Sob. We opted instead for Dublins, where the food was good, there was outdoor seating, and the scenery was...attractive. Megan is absolutely the gutsiest gal I know, and a real asset when one is on the prowl. Well, Plaid-Shorts Mike was a dud, but a cute one, so we left him and his comic buddy at Dublins and proceeded to the 96th floor of the John Hancock Building with Bryan, another random Megan acquisition. After the Cactus we'd given up hope of clubbing with Lauren, but on our way to the El the doorman at Club Chicago near about dragged us onto the dance floor, so the evening ended three hours (and several drinks) later than expected. The brown line doesn't run past 2:00am, so, after waiting nearly forty minutes for a train, Sarah and I hopped a cab at Belmont, took the cab to the corner of Gunnison and Western (intending to save a few bucks and walk home through the alley.) The cab door had barely shut when the heavens opened and attempted to drown us as we ran, stumbling in skirts and heels through the alley and back to my aunt and uncle's brownstone.
The rest of the weekend was a bit more subdued, but no less fun. Saturday was Michigan Ave, followed by Chicago-style pizza and margaritas in the backyard, and Sunday was lunch downtown, mass at Holy Name, a lake and river boat tour, Buckingham fountain, and dessert outside of the Art Institute. Drove Megan and Lauren to O'Hare last night, and now plan to enjoy my last remaining days in my favorite city. Uni starts in a week, and I doubt I'll have much time to spend in the city, though I'd v. much like to see the Toulouse exhibit at the Art Institute. Also, a trip to Halsted and Armitage is much needed, as they've opened a LUSH there, and I'm desperate for "Honey I Washed the Kids" and more of their divine Ocean face scrub.

Well..... that might just be a good thing. I have no idea what my schedule will be like, or how much free time I'll have. But if it's what I think it is, then it might very nice to be "on call"!!!!! :)
oh, never thought of that actually, but it's a good idea now that you mention it. I'll check it out with C&D. The job I'm talking about is a real job, in a store on Michigan Ave. |
